Lovely lunch at the Corner House tea rooms

Lovely lunch at the Corner House. Between us we scoffed down egg mayonnaise sandwiches, a ham and cheese toastie and a jacket potato with cheese and beans, all of which where fab.  But we weren’t done yet! We followed that up with a fresh scone with jam and cream, a bakewell slice, a huge slice of Victoria sponge and a slab of coffee cake! This definitely isn’t fast food as everything is cooked fresh to order, but it is certainly worth the wait! Tables are available inside and out.

Family picnic and fun at Pensthorpe

Pensthorpe is one of those places which could easily be overlooked when looking for a place to take the family. It is fairly expensive and you might think that the children will get bored at a “bird sanctuary”. But this would be wrong. Pensthorpe is so much more than that! There are beautiful, and I mean stunning, views and scenery. There are so many places off the beaten track where you can take in the views whilst nibbling on a sandwich. There are thousands of birds and countless other wildlife to spot along a slow amble. There are large lakes…

However, in these strange, Covid times, now seemed the perfect opportunity to give it a try, as it was outside and, therefore, easier to social distance. The entrance is via a single doorway, straight into the cafe. Fortunately, there is a one-way system in place, and copious signage to manage the flow of people. We paid for our admission to the garden and ordered lunch at the same time, then went and sat at a (socially-distanced) table to await our…

    Pretty Corner Tea Gardens

Although we’ve been travelling up to East Runton for over a year now, this is our first visit to the Pretty Corner Tea Gardens. And we were not disappointed. The weather improved just as we sat down at one of the terrace tables (unfortunately right next to a door which lead to, what we assume was a dishwasher, so there was a little unwanted noise, but not enough to detract from the experience. We know which tables to choose next time!) and we chose a light lunch from the menus (there is also an extensive specials board as well). On…
