    Getting lost at Felbrigge

After a late start, what better way to waste away the last of the autumn sunshine than a (not so gentle) jaunt around the woods at Felbrigg. We had a few hours to kill before moving on to the Lantern Parade at BeWilderwood, so we set off along the victory walk. However, someone within our happy throng, who shall remain anonymous, uttered the fateful words “let’s chose the path less trodden”. Whilst this is a wonderfully romantic nod to Robert Frost’s poem (look it up – it’s really good!) in the hands of two young children, it holds great power.…

    East to West (Runton beaches!)

We decided to walk along the beach today, from East Runton to West Runton. Our ultimate goal was to have lunch at the Corner House cafe in West Runton. As we stepped onto the beach and turned left, almost immediately we were confront by this amazing standing stones sculpture. No idea who made it, but we were both impressed…and inspired! Here are some of our efforts…       [catlist catlink="yes" name="Beaches" date="yes"]

    Felbrigg Easter Egg Hunt

Just spent a lovely afternoon at Felbrigg (as always!) This time we enjoyed their Easter egg trail which involved us following a simple map to various checkpoints where we undertook certain tasks.  For example, we played a game of hide and seek (where 7yo couldn’t be found… she had climbed 30ft up a tree – how is that fair?). We also learnt how to play a grass trumpet, among many other things.  Our two children were rewarded at the end with an Easter egg each, and we as a family took home memories of a beautiful family afternoon, laughing and…

Family picnic and fun at Pensthorpe

Pensthorpe is one of those places which could easily be overlooked when looking for a place to take the family. It is fairly expensive and you might think that the children will get bored at a “bird sanctuary”. But this would be wrong. Pensthorpe is so much more than that! There are beautiful, and I mean stunning, views and scenery. There are so many places off the beaten track where you can take in the views whilst nibbling on a sandwich. There are thousands of birds and countless other wildlife to spot along a slow amble. There are large lakes…

    Pensthorpe

We’ve been to Pensthorpe a couple of times now and we always enjoy our time here. We used to drive past the signs on the way to Waverley several times a year, and never gave it much thought. However, when we asked a local for ideas of things to do, he said the best place locally was Pensthorpe. We replied that it looked a bit pricey for a visit to a wetlands centre. He smiled and then said that there is much more there than seeing a few birds! And he was right. There are some lovely walks through varying…
