    Lovely afternoon at Oxburgh Hall

We had never been to Oxburgh before but fell upon it as we drove past whilst avoiding a lengthy traffic diversion. After looking it up when we got how, we avowed to stop by on the way home next time. It is conveniently (for us) located a few miles from xxx and not too far from the A10. Our next visit to Waverley was the October half-term. We’d had pretty good weather so far and were blessed again when we arrived in the small car park at Oxburgh. Although a National Trust property, it is not a particularly busy one…

The ups and downs of High Altitude Trampoline Park

This is a new one on us and, pun notwithstanding, there really were no downs. We arrived a bit late for our session but this did not hinder our enjoyment, largely due to the  helpfulness and friendliness of staff. Our two had great fun bouncing their way around the floor, taking a leap of faith onto the huge air pillow, shooting hoops and playing Trampoline dodge ball. They both finished up with worn out legs and a slushy to cool down. Coffee’s not bad either! A little distance from Waverley, but easily reachable by car (about 45 mins). Check out…

    Felbrigg Easter Egg Hunt

Just spent a lovely afternoon at Felbrigg (as always!) This time we enjoyed their Easter egg trail which involved us following a simple map to various checkpoints where we undertook certain tasks.  For example, we played a game of hide and seek (where 7yo couldn’t be found… she had climbed 30ft up a tree – how is that fair?). We also learnt how to play a grass trumpet, among many other things.  Our two children were rewarded at the end with an Easter egg each, and we as a family took home memories of a beautiful family afternoon, laughing and…

Family picnic and fun at Pensthorpe

Pensthorpe is one of those places which could easily be overlooked when looking for a place to take the family. It is fairly expensive and you might think that the children will get bored at a “bird sanctuary”. But this would be wrong. Pensthorpe is so much more than that! There are beautiful, and I mean stunning, views and scenery. There are so many places off the beaten track where you can take in the views whilst nibbling on a sandwich. There are thousands of birds and countless other wildlife to spot along a slow amble. There are large lakes…

Alby Craft Centre and Tea Room

We weren’t really sure what we expected to find at Alby. For me, the craft Centre part of the name was a bit of a put off, but I was wrong. We spent a very enjoyable hour or so pottering around the various artist workshops and galleries before heading out into the garden. We couldn’t quite believe our lucky with this October sunshine! The gardens cost £2.50 each to enter, but it was well worth the money – the gardens were beautiful – very enjoyable to step through, even this late in the year. I can only begin to imagine…
