Pensthorpe is one of those places which could easily be overlooked when looking for a place to take the family. It is fairly expensive and you might think that the children will get bored at a “bird sanctuary”. But this would be wrong. Pensthorpe is so much more than that!
There are beautiful, and I mean stunning, views and scenery. There are so many places off the beaten track where you can take in the views whilst nibbling on a sandwich. There are thousands of birds and countless other wildlife to spot along a slow amble. There are large lakes to walk round. Often, you can pick up a ‘spotting’ tail from the shop (with a reward at the end. The flamingo colony is always a draw and, if all that fails, there is, perhaps, the best outdoor and indoor play areas for miles! And let’s not forget the cage and shop.
There really is something here for everyone. We can, and often do, fill a while day here with the family and then go back to the cottage exhausted but happy.
