    Cakes and art from Alby

Today, on the way back from a trip to High Altitude in Norwich, we decided to stop off at a favoured haunt to pick up some cakes. As always, the cakes were excellent! This time, however, we also picked up a lovely piece of original artwork to adorn Waverley.  This boat was by Emily Thorncroft, who just happened to be manning the shop, Gallery 10, as she does most Tuesdays, and was happy to chat about her and others works in the shop. I’m so glad I said nice things about these pictures before I knew they were hers! There…

Lovely lunch at the Corner House tea rooms

Lovely lunch at the Corner House. Between us we scoffed down egg mayonnaise sandwiches, a ham and cheese toastie and a jacket potato with cheese and beans, all of which where fab.  But we weren’t done yet! We followed that up with a fresh scone with jam and cream, a bakewell slice, a huge slice of Victoria sponge and a slab of coffee cake! This definitely isn’t fast food as everything is cooked fresh to order, but it is certainly worth the wait! Tables are available inside and out.

We spent a very enjoyable hour or so pottering around the various artist workshops and galleries before heading out into the garden. We couldn’t quite believe our lucky with this October sunshine! The gardens cost £2.50 each to enter, but it was well worth the money – the gardens were beautiful – very enjoyable to step through, even this late in the year. I can only begin to imagine…

    Pretty Corner Tea Gardens

Although we’ve been travelling up to East Runton for over a year now, this is our first visit to the Pretty Corner Tea Gardens. And we were not disappointed. The weather improved just as we sat down at one of the terrace tables (unfortunately right next to a door which lead to, what we assume was a dishwasher, so there was a little unwanted noise, but not enough to detract from the experience. We know which tables to choose next time!) and we chose a light lunch from the menus (there is also an extensive specials board as well). On…
