Although we’ve been travelling up to East Runton for over a year now, this is our first visit to the Pretty Corner Tea Gardens. And we were not disappointed. The weather improved just as we sat down at one of the terrace tables (unfortunately right next to a door which lead to, what we assume was a dishwasher, so there was a little unwanted noise, but not enough to detract from the experience. On a blisteringly hot day, we decided to go to NT’s Blickling Hall, near Aylsham (check), about 25 minutes drive from East Runton. This is a very grand house, the home of a former [check], and significant as the property which started the NT’s donated-estates portfolio. Although we did pop our heads inside hall itself, Littley was still a little too young (there is a vast array of child-friendly activities, including a period dressing up box for children a little older than 2), we spent the majority of our time there in the gardens. Me, Abby and Littley went back to Constantia Cottage for a second time, and we were not disappointed! The food is nice, but the welcome is incredible! On both occasions, Littley was allowed to dance on the dancefloor to the greek soundtrack. Because there was not a special greek night on, she had the dancefloor to herself!

It’s quite a small zoo, but this is actually an asset. It is small, but perfectly formed, nestled, as it is, in a lovely woodland (or forest!) setting. e were lucky enough to visit on beautiful summers day with hot sunshine, so the shade afforded by the tree canopy was very welcome The most important aspect of any zoo, however, is the animals and at Amazona, they seemed to be very contented in large, well thought out enclosures (not a lot of concrete on display here).
