We had never been to Oxburgh before but fell upon it as we drove past whilst avoiding a lengthy traffic diversion. After looking it up when we got how, we avowed to stop by on the way home next time. It is conveniently (for us) located a few miles from xxx and not too far from the A10. Our next visit to Waverley was the October half-term. We’d had pretty good weather so far and were blessed again when we arrived in the small car park at Oxburgh. Although a National Trust property, it is not a particularly busy one…

After a late start, what better way to waste away the last of the autumn sunshine than a (not so gentle) jaunt around the woods at Felbrigg. We had a few hours to kill before moving on to the Lantern Parade at BeWilderwood, so we set off along the victory walk. However, someone within our happy throng, who shall remain anonymous, uttered the fateful words “let’s chose the path less trodden”. Whilst this is a wonderfully romantic nod to Robert Frost’s poem (look it up – it’s really good!) in the hands of two young children, it holds great power.…

This was our second visit to this Thai restaurant on the main high street in Sheringham…and it’s fast becoming a favourite. When your two children plead with you to “go to the Thai restaurant” you tend to go along with it! To be fair, it’s not a hardship for the adults; the food is lovely, and the welcome is very warm. Our children were well looked after by the staff (although, of course, impeccably behaved!) The restaurant was quite busy, but the service level was maintained throughout. Today, on the way back from a trip to High Altitude in Norwich, we decided to stop off at a favoured haunt to pick up some cakes. As always, the cakes were excellent! This time, however, we also picked up a lovely piece of original artwork to adorn Waverley. This boat was by Emily Thorncroft, who just happened to be manning the shop, Gallery 10, as she does most Tuesdays, and was happy to chat about her and others works in the shop. This is a new one on us and, pun notwithstanding, there really were no downs. We arrived a bit late for our session but this did not hinder our enjoyment, largely due to the helpfulness and friendliness of staff. Our two had great fun bouncing their way around the floor, taking a leap of faith onto the huge air pillow, shooting hoops and playing Trampoline dodge ball. They both finished up with worn out legs and a slushy to cool down. Coffee’s not bad either! A little distance from Waverley, but easily reachable by car (about 45 mins). Check out…

This is our second visit to this top class facility. The building is brand new and is decked out with state of the art equipment. We went to a family swim session during which you can enjoy a paddle in the flat bottomed, warm toddler pool, be drenched by the splash pad, or takes things up a notch in the much larger, slightly cooler main swimming pool. Inflatables were available for both pools free of charge. I don’t know what the next session was going to be, but we saw staff dragging an enormous Inflatable obstacle course onto the main…

Lovely lunch at the Corner House. Between us we scoffed down egg mayonnaise sandwiches, a ham and cheese toastie and a jacket potato with cheese and beans, all of which where fab. But we weren’t done yet! We followed that up with a fresh scone with jam and cream, a bakewell slice, a huge slice of Victoria sponge and a slab of coffee cake! This definitely isn’t fast food as everything is cooked fresh to order, but it is certainly worth the wait! Tables are available inside and out.

We decided to walk along the beach today, from East Runton to West Runton. Our ultimate goal was to have lunch at the Corner House cafe in West Runton. As we stepped onto the beach and turned left, almost immediately we were confront by this amazing standing stones sculpture. No idea who made it, but we were both impressed…and inspired! Just spent a lovely afternoon at Felbrigg (as always!) This time we enjoyed their Easter egg trail which involved us following a simple map to various checkpoints where we undertook certain tasks. For example, we played a game of hide and seek (where 7yo couldn’t be found… she had climbed 30ft up a tree – how is that fair?). We also learnt how to play a grass trumpet, among many other things.
