{"id":140,"date":"2016-07-26T17:15:26","date_gmt":"2016-07-26T16:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eastrunton.com\/explorer\/?p=140"},"modified":"2022-06-24T22:45:00","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T21:45:00","slug":"rockpooling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eastrunton.com\/wp\/?p=140","title":{"rendered":"Rockpooling on East Runton Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having spent a rather windswept, but pleasant morning at Mundesley Beach, we headed back to <a href=\"http:\/\/eastrunton.com\/explorer\/waverley-cottage\/\">Waverley<\/a>; Thea was getting tired. As we approached the ice cream van, she rallied (!) so we gave in and had one. Each!<\/p>\n<p>We sat at the top of the cliff, looking down towards East Runton beach as the sun came out. By this time, the ice cream induced sugar rush was had finished its work on Thea \u2013 she was raring to go. So, we dropped down onto the beach so that we could paddle our feet in the sea for a little while.<\/p>\n<p>The weather, by now, was glorious \u2013 a beautiful summers evening. Urged on by Thea, we took a look at the rock pools (towards Sheringham) and saw a few miniscule marine animals, but nothing to get too excited about. At this point, Thea made a new friend \u2013 a little girl called Abigail. She and her parents were clearly pros at rockpooling (they said they had been coming back to East Runton for several years) and were happy to share with us their \u201ccatch\u201d \u2013 two buckets teaming with crab and shrimps (or prawns \u2013 we must find out what they <em>actually<\/em> are!)<\/p>\n<p>After a lot of animal handling, another small family group joined the excitement. At this time Abigail\u2019s parents decided it was time to return their haul to the beach; it was great to see the crabs (some of which were quite big) crawling off along the beach before burying themselves in the sand.<\/p>\n<p>Thea had a great time, completely forgetting how tired she had been, and made a new friend. This goes to show just how friendly East Runton is!<\/p>\n<p>A very memorable evening.
